About McClure, IL - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

McClure is a small village found in Alexander County, Illinois, and it was just recently incorporated in 2004. Despite just being designated as a village, the community was actually established in the early 1830s as Clear Creek or Clear Creek Landing. The name was later changed to honor Thomas J. McClure, as his family became prominent farmers in the area. As of 2010, this village was home to just over 400 residents, and it is part of the nearby Cape Girardeau – Jackson Metro Statistical Area.

As a tiny village, there are few notable attractions located within its limits. The Thomas J. and Caroline McClure House is still found in the community, and it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. McClure’s beautiful location near the Mississippi River makes is a great destination for outdoor enthusiasts, and some may enjoy visiting East Cape Campground.

Cape Girardeau, MO is also located just across the Bill Emerson Memorial Bridge from McClure, and there are a variety of other attractions located here.  Families with young children might like to check out Lazy L Safari Park or the Cape Splash Family Aquatic Park. Likewise, adults looking for something more entertaining to do might prefer a trip to the Isle Casino Cape Girardeau.

McClure is found within a humid subtropical climate zone, featuring four distinctive seasons throughout the year. Summers in the community are typically hot, humid, and hazy, and while average high temperatures reach the upper 70s, there are over 48 days per year in which temperatures exceed 90 degrees. For this reason, it is crucial that residents have access to a central air conditioning system to stay cool.

Winters in McClure will warrant the use of a heat pump or furnace system, as temperatures tend to be quite cold. Precipitation is also common, featuring a mix of rain, snow, and sleet, and when freezing temperatures are added, driving conditions could become hazardous. A heat pump or furnace is a necessity for staying safe when winter weather keeps McClure area residents indoors.
