About Cape Girardeau, MO - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

Cape Girardeau is the 16th largest city in Missouri by population, as approximately 38,000 residents call the community home. It is also the largest city within Southeast Missouri, and some of its growth has been due to an emerging college town vibe with the presence of Southeast Missouri State University. The “cape” for which the community originally received it name no longer exists, but one of its remaining rocks can be seen on a promontory that overlooks the Mississippi River. Cape Girardeau is found approximately 115 miles from St. Louis and 175 miles from Memphis.

There are a variety of great attractions located in Cape Girardeau. The arts are especially popular in this city, with attractions including the Art Gallery at the Crisp Museum, the Black Door Gallery, and the Cape Girardeau Outdoor Sculpture Exhibition. Antique shops are also popular in the area, with some of the most famous shops including Annie Laurie’s Antiques and Back Porch Antiques and Collectibles.

Cape Girardeau fits with the characteristics of a humid subtropical climate zone. Summers are hazy, humid, and hot, with average high temperatures reaching the upper 80s.  However, since the weather tends to be quite muggy during June, it often feels even warmer, and temperatures well into the 90s are also common. Outdoor recreation is extremely popular during this time of the year, so residents will be glad to have a cool home to return to with an efficient air conditioning system in place.

Climate controls are also required during the winter months in Cape Girardeau. While actual snowfall is minimal at less than a foot of accumulation per year, sleet and freezing rain are quite common. At times, the precipitation during the winter months can be excessive, especially when paired with frigid temperatures, and without a furnace or heat pump in place, plumbing and pipes could be at risk of freezing and requiring expensive repairs to fix.
